100 Women We Love 2007

We present to you this year’s selection of 100 out women who have made an impact on the community. Meet the class of 2007.

Kate Moira Ryan
Ryan is not only a talented, lauded playwright and author, but she makes a mean cupcake, as her
7-year-old son Timothy can attest. 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother, the play and book Ryan co-authored with Judy Gold, won the 2006 GLAAD Media Award for Out-standing New York Theatre. Her knack for deftly combining religious and LGBT themes in her writing comes from her schooling. “I was educated by left wing nuns, very into liberation theology,” says Ryan. In addition to walking Timothy to school and baking, Ryan’s also writing two books and a play about Iraq. She’s just finished the nonfiction Memoirs of a Cheapskate and watch for her new play The Beebo Brinker Chronicles, an adaptation of Ann Bannon’s 1950s lesbian pulp novels, to hit off-Broadway this fall. –DP
