100 WOMEN WE LOVE 2008

Hats off to the 100 Women We Love, class of 2008 (in no particular order, ’cause we love ’em all!).

Kate Frawley

“I want to thank my customers for their support throughout the years,”says Kate Frawley, co-owner of LoverGirlNYC, one of New York’s longest running and most successful women’s events companies. Now in its tenth year, LoverGirlNYC events draw a predominantly African American and Latina crowd, although everyone is welcome. Frawley, who began her nightlife career on security, is dedicated to providing a safe environment for women with the best music and entertainment available. “It’s a challenge to find quality clubs in New York that will invest their coveted Saturday nights in women’s parties,” says Frawley. Her passion for nightlife is evidenced most by her longevity in the field; she bought LoverGirlNYC from its previous owner a decade ago, and she and business partner Sophina Turzo have since made the party what it is today. Frawley continues to distinguish herself through her dedication to community by donating her time and dollars to a diverse array of charitable organizations, including Human Rights Campaign, Hale House, Anti Violence Project, Heritage of Pride, Black Pride and People of Color in Crises. –CL
