Sophia Cranshaw
As senior director for MTV’s On-Air Promos department, Cranshaw is the creative point person for MTV’s college channel, mtvU. Cranshaw oversees writers, directors and producers, and raises both money and awareness on issues college students relate to. In addition to receiving positive feedback from college students, whom she described as “some of the most savvy, freethinking people on the planet,” Cranshaw has also received awards from Broadcast Design, Promax, Creativity and The Beacon Awards. To aspiring network execs, Cranshaw said, “My advice is to create an environment where all ideas are given voice because you never know when a good idea will come your way. But at the end of the day, I’d say you should go with your gut, because instinct is everything. Plus, you’ll never please everybody, anyway.”
