Lea Robinson
A former college basketball champ and Division I women’s basketball coach, Lea Robinson now works with organizations such as It Takes a Team! and The National Center for Lesbian Rights to help eradicate homophobia in sports. She says, “I had spent a year coaching in a very homophobic setting and decided that in my next job I would be honest initially about myself and my partner. I began presenting on and chairing panel discussions surrounding homophobia in athletics at various conferences.” Also a performer, Robinson appears in Room For Cream, a lesbian serial at La Mama E.T.C. in New York City, and is currently at work on her own one-woman show. She says there are definitely some similarities between team sports and live theater. “The basketball court was very similar to what the stage is for me now. It is a place of exploration, magic, chemistry, courage, and most importantly, connection and it’s a BLAST!” -CB
Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
