100 Women We Love: Class of 2009

Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

Lauren Lappin

Dreams really do come true. Just ask Lauren Lappin, 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist: “The greatest thrill of my career was making the 2008 USA Olympic softball team. Being a part of the biggest sporting event in the world was something I always dreamed of.” A member of the Pro-Fastpitch X-treme Tour since 2006, Lauren tours the country with some of the best players in the world to help up-and-coming athletes follow their dreams through goal setting activities and life skills clinics. Lauren just completed the 2008/2009 season as an assistant coach of Northwestern University’s women’s softball team. She is the recipient of the Pan American Games Gold Medal, World University Games Gold Medal, Canada Cup Gold Medal, a two-time All American at Stanford University and a World Cup Champion. With the hope that the Olympics come back to the States in 2016, Lauren is involved in the City of Chicago’s Olympic Week bid. -KD

Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
