100 Women We Love: Class of 2009

Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

LaKisha Hoffman

LaKisha Hoffman developed
a rabid following, as teammates with her sister Jen Hoffman
during the latest season of CBS Television’s The Amazing Race, where they finished fourth in the race around the world. The Bronx-based Hoffman drew on her toughness and athletic prowess from a career that included playing basketball at Division I Louisville, where she graduated with a degree in psychology. She is seeking her second bachelors’ degree in forensic psychology at John Jay College, while preparing for the LSAT. She is also
a youth program coordinator and coach for a non-profit organization called New Heights, where she works with middle-school students on creating programs that encourage academic enrichment as well as athletic skills. “Kids need to see and be inspired by someone who understands where they are coming from and can inspire and mentor them
to move beyond real and self-imposed limitations to be leaders in their lives and for the generation that comes after them.” -KW

Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
