Award-winning photographer Angela Jimenez has been lauded by the New York Press Photographer’s Association, Communication Arts Photo Annual and the Magenta Foundation. She brilliantly documents LGBT culture for the New York Times, where she is a regular contributor, and a number of other mainstream and independent publications. Her self-published book Welcome Home: Building the Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival, a seven-year labor of love, features intriguing portraits from the annual summer festival. “I hope to help give our community a way to communicate who we are, what we are doing: to tell the stories about the beautiful culture we are making and the struggles we are facing,” she says. “I want to leave a legacy of stories, to not let them just pass by untold. Because then we know what we are building on and we can go forward with our eyes open.” -CB
