100 Women We Love: Susan Mosher
We are thrilled to present the 2013 list of 100 Women We Love - Including...
Armed with a dynamite voice, heartfelt observations and ridiculously funny improv, Susan Mosher tirelessly worked nightclubs, theaters, television, film and probably any other media you can imagine to carve out a bi-coastal career and make her Broadway dream a reality. “When I was eight, growing up in San Diego with my parents involved in a nasty divorce, my mom took me to see a production of Camelot. I was absolutely transported by the experience, the sheer escapism,” she tells GO. “Those people on the stage were magical beings, and I knew then that I would be pursuing the dream of a life in theater.” In 2007, Mosher moved to NYC with longtime partner, writer/director Hope Royaltey, to appear in the last two years of Hairspray on Broadway. Mosher’s solo show The Great Daisy Theory, a bio-epic tale of growing up with big dreams of Broadway in the sexually experimental suburbs of 1970s California, earned rave reviews from NPR, Time Out New York and the NY Press—as has her weekly show Backstage. Currently, you can catch Mosher in the hilarious off-Broadway hit NEWSical the Musical, where recently she shared the stage with Andrea McArdle and SNL’s Cheri Oteri. –QW
