CHRIS & AMY
Iselin, NJ
Chris, 48, special education teacher
Amy, 47, writer/happy housewife

If you´re one of the few people out there still skeptical about online dating sites, meet Chris and Amy. Their story began when Amy sent Chris a smiley emoticon and got one right back. Their first kiss was “scary because it was so right, like destiny unveiling itself,” and last year the New Jersey couple sealed the deal in Kauai, Hawaii with a civil union ceremony in front of friends and family. “It was just as magical as it should have been. Native Hawaiians believe that rain on your wedding day is a blessing and when we arrived at the beach, it was sprinkling,” Amy says. “When we stood facing each other, it felt so perfect; we both felt relaxed and sure of our love.” They´ve had their share of crummy relationships in the past, so these two definitely know what works: “We give each other flowers all the time, just because. We totally support each other,” they tell us. “We don´t judge or criticize and we don´t have insecurities, because we´ve been there, done that, and life is too short!” An awesome sense of humor probably helps too-two months after their civil union ceremony, just before Halloween, New Jersey legalized gay marriage and the pair decided to make it official and hit city hall… dressed as two zombie brides. “We drew a lot of attention,” they laugh.
