Both Leilani and Melissa are originally from California, but it took moving to NYC across 3,000 miles to bring them together. They met at a bar in the Meatpacking District, and found themselves bonding over their West Coast connections. At the time, both were in relationships. We were just happy to have a new friend in the city, says Leilani. Their chemistry proved to be too strong for mere friendship, and a few months later they ended their previous relationships and gave romance with each other a shot. They married this past June at the Brooklyn Winery surrounded by coworkers, friends and family from all over the country. For this couple, it is true what they say about opposites attracting. Our opposites complement each other so well, they are what make us unique and successful – I bring Melissa out of her shell and make her more social, and she has taught me the joys of crafting and evenings spent at home, offers Leilani. It Is an incredible feeling to know that I am married to someone who understands me so well. [Leilani] also has dimples that could melt any heart, adds Melissa.
