Porn Site Blocks N.C. Users Until Discriminatory Bill Is Repealed

A leading online porn site, XHamster.com, has banned users in the state based on the passage of the anti-LGBT House Bill 2.

XHamster.com, one of the world’s top online porn hubs, on Monday blocked access to all users with North Carolina IP addresses in the wake of atrocious discriminatory legislation recently signed into law in the state. XHamster.com will not allow North Carolinians to visit its website until House Bill 2 – a fiercely-contested, draconian measure that effectively bars all North Carolina cities and counties from passing any statures to protect LGBT residents – is repealed.

"We have spent the last 50 years fighting for equality for everyone and these laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate," said company spokesman Mike Kulich in an official statement. “Judging by the stats of what […] North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one. We will not standby and pump revenue into a system that promotes this type of garbage. We respect all sexualities and embrace them."

According to data released by the mostly-free, streaming porn site, in March alone, North Carolina residents searched for the term "transsexual" around 400,000 times. “Gay" as a search term was browsed approximately 320,000 times.

The Huffington Post reported that, “Kulich said the website plans to replace the black screen currently seen by North Carolina porn buffs with a petition demanding the repeal of the law.”

“Hopefully, it will get as many signatures as the ‘transsexual’ searches,” Kulich added.
