Rebecca Drysdale is a Time Traveling Lesbian

Lesbian comedian Rebecca Drysdale’s new online series takes us through time…

What if I told you that Rebecca Drysdale is a Time Traveling Lesbian? First you’d probably wonder who Rebecca Drysdale is. Then you might even Google ‘Time Traveling Lesbian’ to see if maybe it’s a new phrase to be added to the LGBTTQSRV list. Here are the facts: Rebecca Drysdale is a Time Traveling Lesbian is a fantastic lesbian update to the dry spy stories and overly serious time travel tales of TV and film.

Taken straight to the top media forum of the 21st century, (read: the interweb) this series of eight 4-minute long videos follows comedian Rebecca Drysdale as she bounces through time periods, love affairs, and (yes!) danger. With each era adventure, Drysdale finds herself entangled with a different beauty of the generation including hot hippies, roman queens, and disco dykes. Staying out of the doghouse with her girlfriend becomes increasingly difficult, not to mention Drysdale’s actual missions- keeping the history of the universe safe from a couple of time traveling trouble makers. It becomes Drysdale’s responsibility to stay one step ahead of the time disrupters while keeping her tracks covered from her enemies and loved ones.

With an almost British tone of humor, the video series is told in a ‘recap’ style, starting each episode with the familiar “Previously on Time Traveling Lesbian…” Other nods to television and spy stories include Drysdale’s omniscient boss Carl who is never shown but always contacted through a holographic triangle wristband.

Those familiar with the current live comedy landscape may recognize Rebecca Drysdale as the real-life stand-up comedian and improv actor. Drysdale has a serpentine history in the comedy world that starts at summer camp and moves to the Chicago circuit with stints in Amsterdam and the Aspen Comedy Festival where she worked with Bret and Jemaine from Flight of the Concords. While in Aspen, Drysdale won the Breakout Performer award and began talks with HBO, eventually leading to the production of Time Traveling Lesbian.

You can catch all eight episodes of Rebecca Drysdale is a Time Traveling Lesbian on funnyordie.com. The real Drysdale can also be found performing improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC every Saturday night at 7:30 pm.
