The Very Best Of NYC Dance

Fire Island Dance Festival and Out Like That!

-DANCE-

The Fire Island Dance Festival returns to Fire Island Pines for a trio of outdoor party/performances July 19–20, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg on the 19th and Caroline Rhea on the 20th. Now in its 14th year, FIDF is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS (DRA), a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Performing outdoors against a backdrop of the Great South Bay, FIDF 14 will feature classical and contemporary ballet, modern dance, tap and hip-hop performances by emerging and world-renowned dance companies.

The OUT LIKE THAT! Festival at BAAD!—The Bronx Academy of Art & Dance, defiantly returns for its eighth year of keeping it queer in the Bronx. The festival kicks off June 13 and continues till June 21 with a luscious lineup of dance, film and wonderful performances by drag kings and queens. Don’t miss Q Dance, an exciting evening of dance and performance that opens the door to choreographers of all orientations, and Latino Drags Kings and Queens Rock the Bronx, in which Elizabeth “Macha” Marrero and Virginia “VinnieGumba” Cruz lead a troupe of drag kings and queens in a raucous cabaret evening of song and performance.
