The Very Best Of NYC Theatre

Cirque Jacqueline, Women Beware Women and more…

-THEATER-

If you’ve ever wanted to get beneath the carefully constructed images of Jackie Kennedy, Cirque Jacqueline is a well-researched, one-woman drama that delves into the life of the icon. Andrea Reese channels the former first lady and takes us through some of her major life events, including childhood, her marriage to JFK and his assassination, her marriage to Aristotle Onassis and her other love interests up until her death. With just two shows left at the Players Theatre Loft on Dec 18 and 19, this is a show you don’t want to miss.

The first Off-Broadway revival of the Thomas Middleton masterpiece Women Beware Women premieres at the Red Bull Theatre on Dec 14. A satirical story involving sexual politics, this historical tale speaks with a surprisingly contemporary voice about women’s rights as members of the Duke’s court, unable to separate lust from power, seduce young minds and bodies with deceit.

Now playing through Dec 20 at The Living Theater is Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy with a (Somewhat) Happy Ending. What happens when Hillary Rodham devotes herself to the goddess Athena—overlooking the mighty Aphrodite? Revenge, of course! (Hint: his name rhymes with Mill Blinton.)
