REBECCA ROLFE
Executive Director, San Francisco LGBT Community Center

Rebecca Rolfe, executive director of the San Francisco LGBT Community Center, credits her longtime activism to her mother: “She taught me the importance of commitment to community, a strong sense of justice, and the individual's power to make a difference.” Prior to her tenure at the SF LGBT Community Center, Rolfe worked for over 16 years at San Francisco Women Against Rape, starting out as a hotline counselor and eventually serving as executive director for eight years. The SF LGBT Community Center, which Rolfe describes as “the center of the queer universe,” offers a range of cultural, health and family programs as well as a LGBT economic development program that includes job fairs and career counseling. “Our vision is a LGBT community united by common values and respecting each member’s unique individual experiences,” Rolfe says. “By strategically connecting individuals and institutions we empower those most impacted by discrimination.”
