Gina Mamone
President and CEO, Riot Grrrl Ink

Gina Mamone founded Riot Grrrl Ink., the world's largest queer record label in 2003, while working as a music therapist and producing house concerts with friends in Washington, DC. "I heard the same story from every artist that we brought in; no label would touch them if they made the kind of music they wanted to, the music that is true to their queer identities and politics," Mamone says. "I started investing in making albums and two years later I was able let my day job go and focus on RGI full time." Now the president and CEO, Mamone describes RGI as a radical capitalist company, with profits going directly to the artists and back into the community. Flaunting an impressive roster that includes both artists and social justice organizations, RGI works with such luminaries as musician Amy Ray and author Michele Tea as well the RAINN Network. RGI also recently released the 100% sustainable, carbon footprint-free album Anchors from Nervous but Excited. – CB
