September sees the return of the annual favorite Fall for Dance Festival held at the New York City Center Sep 28–Oct 9. Tickets are reasonably priced at $10 for all seats. The festival will showcase 20 national and international companies and choreographers, and will include world and U.S. premieres, as well as companies making their first U.S. appearances. A wide range of dance styles and traditions—from contemporary dance and classical ballet to Odissi, tap and hip hop—will be represented in five programs. Among the companies slated to perform are Russell Maliphant Company, Shu-yi Chou, Companhia Urbana de Danca, Rafaela Carrasco, Gallim Dance, KEIGWIN + COMPANY with Juilliard Dance, Madhavi Mudgal and Dancers, Merce Cunningham Dance Company and Miami City Ballet.

Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS steps outside and into the sunlight for The 24th Annual Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction, held in Shubert Alley Sep 26. Not-to-be-missed for any serious Broadway theatergoer, the event is free. From posing for photos with your favorite Broadway star to buying that lost cast recording or special gift for a theatre-lover, this year's event promises to offer something for everyone. One of the most popular sites at Broadway's "one-day sale" is the Celebrity Autograph Table, at which your favorite stars from Broadway, Off-Broadway and Daytime Drama sign autographs and pose for photos in exchange for donations to BC/EFA.

The 2010 Komen NYC Race for the Cure® steps off in Central Park Sep 12. Join approximately 25,000 people including survivors to help run breast cancer out of town. Proceeds from the Race contribute to grants for community-based organizations providing life-saving breast health, education, screening and treatment to people in New York City, Long Island, Rockland and Westchester Counties. This year money will also be granted to help offset New York State budget cuts in cancer screening, ensuring women access to mammograms.
