A Girl Wrote It is an evening of one-act plays by female playwrights running Feb 3–20 at The Red Room. It’s not that there are no female playwrights: it's just that women rarely get produced on major stages. And, because women write only 17 percent of America’s main stage productions, Wide Eyed Productions attempts to tip the scales and expose eager audiences to more fantastic theatre. A Girl Wrote It is an ambitious evening of four dark, dangerous and humorous plays with universal themes.

A lot can happen during 40 weeks of pregnancy. Angie is content to support Mark as he pursues his dreams of being a novelist. But when Angie discovers that she is unexpectedly pregnant, lives are turned upside down. Issues of love, parenthood, fidelity and unfulfilled dreams arise, and an old (lesbian) romance is rekindled in 40 Weeks. Through March 12 at the 4th Street Theater.

The 2011 FRIGID New York Festival takes place Feb 23–Mar 6 at The Kraine, The Red Room, and UNDER St. Marks Theaters. The FRIGID is an open and uncensored theater festival that gives back 100 percent of box office proceeds directly to the artists. Boasting more than 150 performances and 30 shows over 12 days, FRIGID New York will kick off the annual North American fringe circuit with a bang.

What happens when one partner outgrows the other? Find out Mar 6–26 at HERE. terraNOVA Collective will present Feeder: A Lover Story, a transmedia theatrical event incorporating live video from a web camera and computer on stage, and Internet video blogging, that engages the audience online before and after the play. In a unique departure from traditional theatre storytelling, this production parallels social networking and personal interaction, sharing a very human story. Feeder: A Lover Story follows the relationship of Jesse and Noel: like thousands of other couples, they met online, fell in love and got married. When Noel and Jesse delve into the fringe lifestyle of feederism, they open themselves up to an extraordinary world of passion, love and food.
