Emmy Award–winner Nancylee Myatt became a television writer on the advice of a casting-director friend: "She told me very early on that I sucked as an actor, but the stuff I wrote for everyone else was great." And so began a journey that would take Myatt from her early days on Night Court, where she had the honor of writing the series finale, to an NAACP award for her work on Living Single, to co-executive producer, writer and director on the network teen drama South of Nowhere, where she oversaw and nurtured the lesbian love story between characters Spencer and Ashley (known in fandom as "Spashley"). Unhappy with the lack of lesbian content on television, Myatt went on to create two breakout web series: 3 Way and Cowgirl Up. She is also the co-creator of a new LGBT sitcom Second Shot, a 2013 Outfest selection. Myatt is now ramping up production for another series called The N&N Files (based on her network pilot, Nikki & Nora), a mystery series set in New Orleans about two women who are partners in work and life. -DN
