We've all been anticipating the XXII Olympic Games, so set your DVR to record the opening ceremony airing Feb 7 at 7:30pm on NBC. Watch and cheer as athletes from all over the world enter the Sochi arena for these much-publicized Olympics in Russia. The four-hour opening ceremony includes special performances.

In a special limited engagement at Film Forum, Yoruba Richen's groundbreaking documentary, The New Black, tells the story of how the African-American community is grappling with LGBT rights in light of the recent gay marriage movement and the fight over civil rights. Screenings available Feb 12-18.

CineKink NYC 2014, the “kinky film festival” runs Feb 25-Mar 2 at Anthology Film Archives. The festival showcases a specially curated program of films and videos that celebrate and explore a wide diversity of sexuality. In addition to screenings, plans for the event also include a short film competition, audience choice awards, a special adult entertainment showcase, presentations, a Kick-Off Gala celebration and a kinky AfterGlow party.

Check out the Fusion Film Festival Mar 6-8 at various locations around NYC. The festival is a student-run celebration of women in film, television and new media by New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Be sure to catch Documentary Fortnight 2014: MoMA's International Festival of Nonfiction Film and Media showing at the Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters Feb 14-28. This year's festival includes an international selection of 30 programs of features, shorts and installations—all New York premieres—that examine the relationship between contemporary art and nonfiction filmmaking, and reflect on new areas of nonfiction practice.

On Mar 2 at 7pm ET, get the popcorn ready! The 86th Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, honors the best films of 2013 and will be televised live on ABC from Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre. The nominees for Best Picture are American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, Gravity, Her, Nebraska, Philomena, 12 Years a Slave and The Wolf of Wall Street. A tribute to film critic Roger Ebert will be presented.
