Amy M. Lesser, founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of GO Magazine, was honored by Profes-sional Organization of Women in Entertainment Reaching Up (POWER UP) on November 11th at their 7th Annual Power Premiere Gala. Lesser was named one of the "10 Amazing Gay Women in Showbiz."

Lesser, a Manhattan native, founded GO Magazine in 2002 to "fill the void" in New York's male dominated LGBT media resources, and to celebrate and promote the institutions, events, and individuals that enhance our lives as lesbians. GO has grown to be the nation's most widely-read free lesbian publication and has been heralded for its comprehensive and exciting editorial, as well as the promotional opportunities it affords, free of charge, to many arts, entertainment and community organizations. To date, well over 1,000,000 free copies of GO have been distributed throughout the country

Lesser is also the President of SportsBall Inc, which has produced six major events to raise operating funds for over 30 LGBT athletic organizations. She has been honored by Team New York for her contributions to the LGBT athletic community and by Stonewall Democrats for her continuing contributions to women in politics.

The annual gala, held this year at The Beverly Hills Hotel, raises money to support POWER UP's educational programs, films and events. Other honorees included: Michelle Paradise, Danielle Knight, Tanya Grubich, Lori Kaye, Lynn Whitney, Cherien Dabis, Jenni Olson, Jennifer Morris and Lisa Cholodenko for their outstanding achievements in the entertainment industry. Celebrity guests included Patricia Charbonneau, Helen Shaver, Guinevere Turner, Daniela Sea, Melanie Mayron, Thea Gill, Michelle Clunie, Tracy Scoggins, Jenny Shimizu, Michelle Wolff, Gabrielle Christan, Maeve Quinlan, Renee O'Connor, Jane Sibbett, Amber Benson, Lauren Mollica, Michele Fleury and more.

POWER UP has produced 12 short films and participated in many more. Their first feature film, Itty Bitty Titty Committee, has had a successful year in the film festival circuit, and is slated for wider release in the coming months.
