In Trance Atlantic, at the Metropolitan Room Mar 14 and 28, German sensation Micaela Leon channels the free spirit of three of the 20th century's most adventurous sexual icons, women who found their greatest success and deepest fulfillment in foreign lands. With physical expressiveness bolstering her sensuous singing, Leon (who came to New York via London from her native Stuttgart last year) looks deep within to understand the impetus to travel, to quest (and perhaps to escape) that she shares with her beautiful and exotic subjects—Marlene Dietrich, Josephine Baker and Jane Birkin.

The Zipper Factory proudly presents Megan Mullally and the Supreme Music Program, performing in concert for two shows only on Mar 28. Since 1998, Supreme Music Program—headed by Will and Grace laugh-riot and out bisexual Megan Mullally—has been playing an eclectic mix of music, often focusing on lesser-known works of master songwriters, or deconstructing slightly better-known pieces. Like postmodern cabaret-gone-mad, Supreme Music Program’s lush vocals and unique arrangements are applied a wide variety of genres—blues, pop, roots-country, traditional folk, rock and classical.

In a rematch necessitated by popular demand, lesbian klezmer sextet Isle of Klezbos and cocktail pop quartet The Lascivious Biddies play a double bill at Drom NYC on Mar 12. Don’t miss this dynamic duo of female bands as they wow the crowds with their unique sounds and distinct stage presence in what’s sure to be an even more exciting second round.
