AxisTheatre presents Seven In One Blow, or The Brave Little Kid now playing through Dec. 20. Adapted from the classic fairy tale byThe Broth- ers Grimm, the play mixes live performance with multi-media technology (be sure to watch for the on-film appearance by Deborah Harry). While the play was created for kids, adults can (and do) find their own level of meaning in the text and subtext. Like any fairy tale there are plenty of valuable lessons to be learned but don’t miss the surprise twist at the end.

Emmy award winner Kristin Johnston (3rd Rock from the Sun) stars in So Help Me God now through Dec. 20 at the Lucille Lortel Theater. Johnston plays Lily, a fabulous dramatic diva who must fend off a challenge from her ambitious but naïve understudy, played by Anna Chlumsky (My Girl films). If you’re think- ing this sounds like All About Eve this play was written 20 years earlier.

Now playing at the Westside theater through Jan. 3, The Marvelous Wonderettes is described as a “cotton-candy colored non-stop pop musical”. Featuring the iconic sounds of the fifties and beyond, the show takes us to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where the Wonderettes - Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy - are four young girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. Sing along to golden oldies like “Lollipop,” “Stupid Cupid,” “It’s My Party” and more.

Broadway at The Center and the LGBT Theatre Company presents La Contessa’s Christmas Carol performing at the Center on Dec. 21. A cheeky musical spin on Dickens’ classic tale, the show stars Hector Lugo as La Contessa, dubbed “The Puerto Rican Dame Edna,” and features performers from Broadway’s West Side Story, Mamma Mia!, The Phantom of the Opera and more. Proceeds will benefit the Center and LGBT Theatre Company.

No holiday season is complete without the Tony Award® nominated hit musical Irving Berlin’s White Christmas playing at the Marquis Theatre now through Jan. 3. The musical tells the story of two showbiz buddies who put on a show in a picturesque Vermont inn, and find their perfect mates in the bargain. Full of dancing, laughter and some of the greatest songs ever written, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is a merry and bright theatrical experience for the entire family.
