Count-down to New Year's Eve
posted by brightlights/bigcity on December 27, 2007

New Years is always a toss-up on the fun-to-sucks spectrum, and for queers the conundrum is often multiplied.  And the annual question remains: where to be at midnight? The options include:

- Small cocktail party of gay-friendly yet sadly-straight friends in Cobble Hill

- Big crowded lez party with overpriced cover charge and good DJs

- Cheap party with free snacks at Williamsburg queer dive bar

- Gay man dancing party with lovely gay man friends and the odd* trans man

- House party in Northampton with lezzie single friends

Whatever is decided, this New Year's will surely be better than the last, which was spent watching everyone else kiss people at straight dive bar with old beer smell and excessive indoor smoking.  As usual, the New Years' rule applied: what would normally be considered a good night becomes a disastrous New Years Eve, resulting in a sad and lonely cab ride home, followed by a from-the-jar peanut butter binge. This should not happen again, as I have a date this year.  But, um….we'll see.
