Directed by Miriam Ibrahim, with Nao Dobashi, David Salazar, Zebedee Row, and based on a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, Sterntaler tells the story of an orphan girl.
On this rooftop performance, we invite you to experience the ambience of traditional fairy tale narration in the midst of NYC. English, Japanese and German is used in the production. The improvisational and collaborative rehearsal process created a refreshing composition. Performing outdoors in an unconventional setting, the actress interacts with the audience. The narrator’s soothing voice carries us through the plot as the her movements intensify and the sounds of the violin crescendo. Sterntaler portrays with brutal honesty the girl's difficult, yet apprehensive journey.
