A labour of Love. With over 40 live and studio albums in her back catalogue, Ms Nina Simone was a prolific song stylist, with a vast array of influences informing her passionate original works, alongside intense interpretations of much loved jazz standards, protest songs, and covers by her contemporaries working in other genres of popular music.
This March, one of Irelands most exciting new emerging vocal talents Jaime Nanci, and his band The Blue Boys, will once again, delve deep into this treasury of song, and deliver their take on The Nina Simone Songbook.
Jaime Nanci, described by GT Magazine (U.K) as Nina Simones vocal Doppleganger has been told for most of his career that he sounds like a black woman, And with this show he embraces that comparison wholeheartedly.
Under the musical direction of Pawel Grudzien, and backed by a band of some of Irelands most accomplished and renowned jazz musicians (Dave Redmond - Bass, Abel Benito - Drums, Ciaran Wilde - Sax) Jaime performs a carefully selected set of his own personal favorite Nina Simone songs, in a show that played to a packed to capacity, standing room only house in Dublins Odessa Club in November 2012.
Join us on Wednesday March 13th at the renowned Laurie Beechman theatre for a very special premier of a very special show.
