Yael Acher Kat Modiano, an award winning international flutist /composer, base in NYC, performs live Electro-acoustic soundtrack to Different From The Others (origin: Anders als die Andern) silent film by Richard Oswald, co-written by the famed psychologist , Magnus Hirschfeld, who founded the German homosexual emancipation movement in 1897. It is believed to be the only gay themed film made during Germanys Weimar Era that escaped systematic destruction by the Nazis. This silent film is among the first to speak out on homosexuality, lesbianism, gender identity, intersexuality, the perils of stereotypes, and the idea that sexuality is physically determined, rather than a mental condition. www.modianomusic.net www.youtube.com/modianomusic
