The Alwan Music Studies Program instructs students of all levels in Arabic music theory (maqam [modals], rhythms & micro-tones) and classical and folk repertoires with some of New York's most renowned Arab Musicians and Vocalists and also members of Alwan's own Arab Music Ensemble. This session includes classes on Arab Vocal Traditions, Iraqi Maqam, Arab Rhythms & Percussions, plus private instruction in vocals, 'oud, violin, and Arab percussion.
