Major exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art examines the artist’s radical, innovative works. It will be on display from Saturday, March 26 until Sunday, July 24. The exhibition shows Edgar Degas, best known as a painter and chronicler of the ballet, at his most modern. Bringing new focus to his extraordinary and rarely seen monotype prints and their impact on his wider practice, Edgar Degas: A Strange New Beauty is the first exhibition in the U.S. in nearly 50 years to examine these radical, innovative works—and MoMA’s first exhibition devoted solely to the artist.

As you read this, nature’s most beautiful creatures are fluttering about in all their multicolored, spotted glory. Be near them! An annual favorite, this exhibit—featuring hundreds of butterfly specimens—has been running for 20 years. Ticket includes admission to the museum as well as the Rose Center for Earth and Space.
10:30am at Museum of Modern Art, $25
Named after the New Jersey town where an apparition of the Virgin Mary allegedly appeared on the window of a house, Rachel Harrison’s room-sized multimedia work exemplifies a cross-disciplinary approach to making art.

On May 29, June 26, July 31, and August 28, 2016, the last Sundays of each month, the center lanes of the Grand Concourse starting at 162nd Street will be closed to cars and open to a world of fun with free music, art and fitness programs hosted by organizations from the Bronx and beyond.
