The New School’s College of Performing Arts is pleased to announce that the acclaimed Mannes Opera Young Artists, conducted by Artistic Director Joseph Colaneri, will give two fully-staged performances of Mark Adamo’s Little Women with the Mannes Orchestra. Performances will take place May 6 & 7 at 7:30pm at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College, 524 West 59th Street, New York. Admission is $25 for the public and $10 for students and seniors. Recognized as one of the major dance companies of Latin America, São Paulo Dance Company makes its Joyce debut with works showcasing the incredible dynamics, versatility, and passion of Brazilian dancers. The program includes Céu Cinzento, Clébio Oliveira’s 2015 work examining impossible love; Gen, Cassi Abranches’s 2014 work highlighting the transition from dancer to choreographer; Mamihlapinatapai, Jomar Mesquita’s 2012 work exploring a look shared by two people; and Gnawa, Nacho Duato’s 2005 work using the four basic elements to address the relationship between humans and the universe.

1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair, the leading transnational fair for Africa and Africa-related art practices and projects, is pleased to announce their international lineup for 1:54 FORUM, the fair’s unique discursive program, curated by Koyo Kouoh, Founder and Artistic Director of RAW Material Company, Dakar, and Curator of the 2016 EVA International – Ireland’s Biennial of Contemporary Art. This year, Kouoh welcomes Adrienne Edwards (Performa, New York and Walker Art Center, Minneapolis), Ugochukwu-Smooth C. Nzewi (Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College), and Dexter Wimberly (independent New York-based curator) to the program as collaborators.
